If I Could, I Would

Photograph: 'For a moment', Ellen Clifford

If I could, I would

Destroy that pedestal from under your feet,

Take Thor's hammer and turn it to dust,

If I could, I would

Smack the smugness from your face,

And leave bruises in its place,

If I could, I would

Reveal your lies,

Lay them out with no place to hide,

If I could, I would

Open everybody's eyes,

So they may see the truth beneath your shiny facade,

If I could, I would,

Oh believe me, if I could, I would
