The sea screams and rages,
No longer whispering
But instead demanding to be heard.
It’s angry and unforgiving,
Challenging the ships
That are brave enough to explore the dark.
The very vessels that are watched
From below the surface
In the cold, dark expanse.
Her eyes fixate on the sailors
As they struggle onboard,
Being tossed with the rhythm of the waves.
She becomes one with the water,
Following them,
Undetected and untraceable.
Searching deep for the tune
That sits in the river of her mind,
She waits.
It is not until the water calms
And the men’s shouting wavers
That she begins to sing.
Now it is she who demands to be heard,
Her voice soft, yet unwavering,
Loud, yet just an undertone to the breeze.
She calls to their souls
That thrash and thrive alongside
The waves that have now buried themselves.
It is she who will save them
From the sea’s depth,
And she who will capture their essences.
Because that is what she is made for
And that is what she will do
From the safety of the midnight sea.
