The Falling Star

Silver weaves with gold,
While the lone star sits in silence,
So far from home.
It’s light fades,
Coming and going,
Dwindling as seconds tick by.
Will it be remembered?
For the way it filled the darkness,
With its never-ending glow.
Will the moon mourn?
For they have been friends
Since the star first shone a light.
As the sun crowns itself
In the sky,
The star knows it’s time.
So, with its last breath,
It glimmers iridescent,
And cracks at the seams.
With its last chance to sing,
It waves goodbye to the light,
And greets the dark with a smile.
